Portraits capture a moment in time that sometimes is also a milestone. Senior portraits, wedding portraits, or annual family portraits for holiday cards are some obvious examples.
There are three classic portrait compositions:
- Head and Shoulder
- Three-quarter
- Full
To produce a stunning portrait, other things that must be considered are angles, camera settings, lighting, and background. But to really capture your essence, your face is typically the focus. To tell a story and to create the proper vibe, it is important that photographer and subject collaborate and agree on objectives. If we have not worked together before, we will have a conversation to compare notes. After an informal interview, we will talk about posture, poses, and smiles. We will make decisions such as indoor or outdoor, wardrobe, props, and color palette. I will work to make you feel at ease so that you come through as natural and relaxed in your pictures.
Images can be candid or scripted, serious, or relaxed. Before your session ends, you will be shown pictures in real time to calibrate if we are headed in the right direction. We may have to do some post processing work – centered on lighting, minor blemishes, or to accentuate notable features. Your product might live privately in a photo album, or it could be suitable for headshots, LinkedIn page, or even a dating site. Either way, our goal is to freeze your image of a great portrait for your purposes. The combination of my artistry, experience, and equipment with your trust and enthusiasm should combine to capture your essence memorably.
While we are experienced, we are lifelong students and stay apprised of the latest developments in equipment and techniques.
This is our avocation – every part of the process is a joy for us; consistently achieving superior results is our lodestar. Contact us or call (917) 500-3599 to begin your journey today.
